The Quarterly Monitor of Economic Trends and Policies in Serbia (QM) is FREN’s flagship publication. QM systematically monitors the macroeconomic, financial and corporate trends and analyzes economic policy in Serbia. It combines practically all elements which are central for accomplishing FREN’s mission – gathering, continuous updating and quality control of available data on Serbian economy; critical assessment of economic trends and policies and in-depth research of under-researched areas of Serbian economy. The analysis are usually set in the broader context of South-East Europe, transition economies and the European Union.
Section Trends monitors the key economic trends and the reactions of the policymakers in Serbia. The period that is analyzed is the most recent quarter but a review of previous quarters’ developments since 2004 is also presented. This section also includes and assessment of the future economic trends.
Section Highlights is comprised of several short texts dealing with the burning economic issues. The purpose of these texts is to offer comments and recommendations regarding some of the most pressing issues that the economic policy in Serbia is facing.
Section Spotlight On presents papers based on thorough empirical and comparative research. The topics of the research are both the ones dealing with the current economic policy issues and building economic institutions and those concentrating on regional and international research.
QM was first issued in 2005 and a new issue was published every three months ever since. For the first six issues, Kori Udovički was the Editor-in-Chief, the founder of FREN and the first Chairman of the Board of Directors. Professor Pavle Petrović took over as the Editor-in-Chief from the issue 7 to the issue 24. Editor-in-Chief of the issue 24 was Diana Dragutinović. Current Editor-in-Chief is Milojko Arsić and Jurij Bajec, Boško Živković, Branko Urošević and Mihail Arandarenko serve on the Editorial Council.
